HC Deb 25 June 1976 vol 913 cc454-5W
Mr. George

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if there are any circumstances in which a lone parent, who will receive family income supplement after 20th July 1976, and pays tax, would be better off to continue claiming child interim benefit; and, if so, what are those circumstances.

Mr. Orme

Beneficiaries already receiving child interim benefit would be better off retaining it if the resulting increase in their tax liability plus the reduction in family income supplement and any other means-tested benefits would be less than £1.50 a week over the ensuing period to April 1977.
