asked the Secretary of State for Employment what hours constitute night working for the purposes of any restrictions on night work for women in the United Kingdom.

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 21st June 1976; Vol. 913, c. 377.], gave the following information:

The Hours of Employment (Conventions) Act 1936 defines "night" as a period of at least 11 consecutive hours, including the interval between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
