§ Dr. OwenIn the two cases of human rabies in England and Wales recorded since January 1975 no anti-rabies vaccine had been given before the onset of symptoms and both cases were fatal.
During 1975 anti-rabies vaccine and/or antiserum was given to 116 persons who had a history of exposure to a potentially rabid animal abroad and to 10 persons with a history of exposure to the two fatal cases of human rabies mentioned above. None of these 126 persons developed the disease.
