§ Mr. HattersleyI am sure that all parties to the Convention will have noted my374W answer to my hon. Friend's Question on 26th July. In addition, several parties to the Convention have been separately informed of my right hon. Friend's views.
§ Mr. Roperasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will initiate discussions with the Turkish Government and the Governments of Australia, France, Greece and Japan in order to ensure that a common approach is adopted to any further passage by the "Kiev" or a similar ship through the Bosphorus.
§ Mr. HattersleyIt is not necessarily for Her Majesty's Government to initiate such discussions. However we have already been in touch with these Governments except that of Japan, on this subject.
