§ Mr. Parryasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will pay an official visit to Liverpool to discuss the problems of the inner city area;
(2) if he will make a statement on the Minister for Housing and Construction's recent visit to Liverpool;
(3) if he is satisfied with the working of the Liverpool Inner Area Studies; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. FreesonThe Secretary of State has at present no plans to visit Liverpool; however I myself am familiar with its inner area problems. The reports of the Inner Area Study continue to provide valuable insights into their nature, and the economic and social factors which lie behind them. I now look forward to the study's final report, with the consultants' conclusions.
I was unfortunately not able to attend the Steering Committee on 23rd July but I have no doubt I shall be visiting the City again in the near future.
