asked the Secretary of State for Energy what amount of reserves of natural gas are under contract to British Gas, and what is the duration of such contracts.

About half of the 1,430 billion cubic metres of remaining reserves shown in Table 3 of the Brown Book is under contract to British Gas. This excludes gas from the Norwegian part of the Frigg field, which is also under contract. The length of the contracts varies between 20 and 25 years.

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what are the estimated United Kingdom sector of the Continental Shelf's proven gas reserves in known discoveries at 31st December 1975 in cubic metres.
