asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is the duty of the Lord Privy Seal to inquire into and to co-ordinate the policing and enforcement requirements of the various Departments concerned with offshore developments.

Lord SHEPHERD

I would refer the noble Lord to the Statement made by my right honourable friend the Prime Minister in another place on 8th June about my continuing responsibility for coordinating the measures necessary for the protection of our offshore and other maritime interests. Responsibility will continue to lie with Ministers for those matters which are the concern of their respective Departments.
