§ Mr. Ovendenasked the Secretary of State for Trade what recent representations he has received urging him to introduce legislation giving effect to the recommendations of the Steering Committee on Pilotage; and what replies he has sent.
§ Mr. Clinton DavisRepresentations for early legislation to implement the committee's recommendations have recently been made by a number of hon. Members and by the Transport and General Workers' Union. Representatives of 677W pilots, pilotage authorities, shipowners and port authorities have also expressed support for such legislation at recent meetings. In reply, I have said that the Government fully accept the need for reforms in marine pilotage and that I hope a Bill can be introduced as soon as possible.
