§ Mr. Rifkindasked the Secretary of State for Scotland on how many occasions, in each year since 1973, children have been detained in prison or other adult accommodation because of the unavailability of places in List D schools or other establishments that provide for young offenders in Scotland.
§ Mr. McElhoneChildren are not placed in prisons or other penal establishments because of a lack of places in List D schools or other establishments. Some children are, however, placed in prisons by court order for short periods pending a court appearance, or in other penal establishments following court sentences imposed under the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1975.
