§ Mr. Stephen Rossasked the Secretary of State for Trade (1) if the sinews and tendons of whales and the parings and similar waste of raw skins of whales were 329W on 10th December 1975 restricted imports by virtue of the Customs Tariff heading 0506 0001;
(2) if residues resulting from the treatment of whale fats were, on 10th December 1975, restricted imports by virtue of the Customs Tariff heading 1517 0503;
(3) if the guts, bladders and stomachs of whales, whether whole or pieces thereof, were, on 10th December 1975, restricted imports by virtue of Customs Tariff heading 0504 0632.
§ Mr. BishopI have been asked to reply.
None of these products was restricted imports on 10th December 1975. Restrictions would be largely unenforceable as the products cannot readily be distinguished from similar products of other animals. None of these products is, however, thought to be imported into the United Kingdom which is why my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Trade did not mention them in the answer he gave to the hon. Member for the Isle of Wight (Mr. Ross) on 10th December 1975.—[Vol. 902, c. 263–4.]
