§ Mr. Brocklebank-Fowlerasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will publish in the Official Report a list showing those countries in Africa from which British companies have been unable to remit profits, giving his latest estimates of the amount.
§ Mr. DeakinsThe following are known to restrict remittance abroad of dividends as distinct from profits whether or not the companies concerned are foreign-owned:
- Algeria.
- Burundi.
- Egypt.
- Equatorial Guinea.
- Ghana.
- Guinea.
- Libya.
- Madagascar.
- Mozambique.
- Rwanda.
- Somalia.
- Southern Rhodesia.
- Tanzania.
- Zambia.
In other countries where detailed criteria for exachange control are not stated the remittance of profits may be restricted.

Laker Airways: Licence originally issued September 1972 to run from London-New York (Skytrain). January 1973. Confirmed on appeal December 1972. Licence reaffirmed and amended (revised fare) February 1975, with a recommendation that the service should not be started for at least twelve months. British Caledonian Airways: Licence issued August 1973 to run from April 1974. Confirmed on appeal December 1973. London-Toronto. British Caledonian Airways: London-Boston-Atlanta-Houston. British Caledonian Airways: Licence issued August 1973 to run from January 1974. London-Bahrein-Singapore. Action to obtain the necessary agreements from the other Governments concerned was suspended in 1974 pending the Civil Aviation Policy Review, the results of which I announced in the House on 29th July 1975. The reasons for the decisions then taken will be explained more fully in the White Paper which will shortly be published.
