HC Deb 22 January 1976 vol 903 cc537-8W
Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the cost to public funds of the advertisement on Independent Television about the Ridgeway Path, broadcast on ATV at approximately 8.50 p.m. on Sunday 18th January and placed by the Countryside Commission; and what television advertising budget he has authorised for the Commission for the current financial year.

Mr. Denis Howell

No advertising cost was incurred by the showing of this film. It is one of many short television items, broadcast free of charge by commercial television companies as a public service. The Countryside Commission has no funds for television advertising in the current financial year.

Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the total value of advertisements dealing with road safety placed by his Department on all independent television channels during the month of January 1976; and what is the total authorised budget for this purpose in the current financial year.

Dr. Gilbert

The cost of road safety advertising on television during January 1976 will be £140,000. The total budget for television advertising on all road safety subjects in 1975–76 is £1.38 million.
