§ Mr. John MorrisUnder Section 54 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1971 I am obliged to compile lists of buildings of special architectural or historic interest in Wales. I do so on the recommendation from the Chief Investigator of Historic Buildings, who recommended the listing of the Weaver's Mill building. I am advised that the effect of the Act is that I must accept the Chief Investigator's recommendation unless I am not satisfied that a building exhibits sufficient architectural or historic merit. I do not consider that I would have proper grounds for coming to such a conclusion in this case. The fact that the building is listed does not mean that it will necessarily be preserved in all circumstances. Demolition or alteration would require "listed building consent".
