HC Deb 18 February 1976 vol 905 cc729-30W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the state of the fishing industry in Wales.

Mr. John Morris

Over the last year the fishing industry in Wales has been faced with increases in costs including fuel costs. However, since the autumn of last year the market has shown very significant signs of improvement. Prices for all the main commercial species were substantially above those for the earlier part of the year and above the 1974 average. There are no signs that this improvement will not be maintained.
