HC Deb 18 February 1976 vol 905 cc706-7W
Mr. Edge

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will print in the Official Report the volume of traffic expected to use the A5(D) immediately after completion and the volume expected at the end of each successive five year period up until the maximum anticipated volume is reached.

Mr. Marks

I shall write to my hot, Friend.

Mr. Edge

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will ensure that the design of the A5(D) in Milton Keynes is sufficiently flexible in order to permit widening and upgrading of the road only when traffic volumes demand it.

Mr. Marks

The new road is to be built with dual two-lane carriageways. No widening is likely to be necessary within the design period.

Mr. Edge

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many residential properties will suffer noise nuisance from traffic after the building of the A5(D) in Milton Keynes.

Mr. Marks

Four properties qualify for insulation under the Noise Insulation Regulations 1975. Earth mounds and acoustic fencing are to be erected at appropriate points along the new road to protect properties from noise.
