§ Mr. Kershawasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many experimental vehicles at TRRL are fitted with laminated and how many with toughened windscreen; and what is the purpose for which each of the vehicles is used.
§ Dr. GilbertMost vehicles used for experiments are purchased to suppliers' standard specifications, and most of these have toughened glass windscreens. Of the 10 cars used for occupant protection studies, four have laminated and six have toughened screens. Laminated screens are also used on certain vehicles specially adapted for experiments with polarised light, and for work on head-up display layouts.
