§ 45. Mr. Christopher Priceasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will now bring forward proposals to reform police interrogation procedures.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsI keep police interrogation procedures under continuing review, but I have no proposals at present for general reform. I am, however, consulting the Lord Chief Justice and the Association of Chief Officers of Police about the issue of guidance on the questioning of mentally handicapped persons.
§ Mr. Carlisleasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department by what date he hopes to receive the report from the committee looking into the feasibility of an experiment in the tape recording of police interrogations.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsI hope that I shall receive the report in the summer.
