HC Deb 11 February 1976 vol 905 cc234-5W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many staff in National Health Service establishments left the health service in 1974–75; and of these how many were (a) doctors, (b) nurses, (c) paramedical staff, (d) domestic staff and (e) other grades of employee.

Dr. Owen

I regret the information is not available. Comprehensive wastage statistics are not collected centrally, and in any case there is inevitably considerable movement of NHS staff between the various employing authorities. It would not be possible except at disproportionate expense to distinguish between such transfers and departures of those who have no immediate intention of seeking further NHS employment.
