HC Deb 11 February 1976 vol 905 c273W
Mr. Ted Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what evidence he has that men's suits, manufactured in East Germany, are being imported into the United Kingdom at a cost of £4.80 each; whether he regards this as dumping; and what action he proposes to take.

Mr. Deakins

Such suits have been offered to at least one United Kingdom company, but I have no evidence of any imports so far. The price quoted certainly suggests a margin of dumping, but the facts of the case are not yet entirely clear. I am having the whole matter investigated as a matter of urgency in order to see what action would be appropriate.
