asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the growth of the EEC butter mountain; and what proposals he has to improve the position.

Stocks of butter in intervention stores in the Community totalled 83,000 metric tons at the end of last month. This amount represents less than 5 per cent. of the Community's butter production in 1975. Measures to improve the balance on the Community market are currently under discussion in the context of the Commission's price proposals for 1976–77.
