§ Mr. KaufmanIn 1972 a three-year programme of investigations of the stratosphere was initiated with the financial support of my Department to assess the impact of stratospheric flight on the composition of the stratosphere and on the climate on the ground. The work was carried out by the Meteorological Office and investigations were co-ordinated by a specially instituted committee known as the Committee on Meteorological Effects of Stratospheric Aircraft (COMESA). The Committee has recently completed its work and its final report will be published shortly.
