HC Deb 09 February 1976 vol 905 cc10-1W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Minister for Overseas Development how many staff, in his Department and in the Central Office of Information, were involved in the preparation of the developing countries leaflets on Nepal, St. Lusia, the Solomon Islands and Swaziland; what has been the total cost to public funds of these leaflets; and why such expenditure is thought necessary in current conditions.

Mr. Prentice

Two staff members of my Department who deal with our general publication work have been involved in the preparation of developing country leaflets; two COI staff were responsible for design and editing. 8,000 copies of each of the four leaflets have been produced at a total cost of £4,183. they have been prepared in response to requests from teachers and educationists, and suggestions made in Parliament, that in addition to general literature on the aid programme there should be publications describing why and how Britain's aid is deployed in individual countries.
