HC Deb 09 February 1976 vol 905 c11W
Mr. Douglas-Mann

asked the Minister for Overseas Development what steps he is taking to assist Bangladesh to prevent the deterioration of food stocks and to ensure price stability for future harvests.

Mr. Prentice

I have made an immediate offer to provide and air freight to Bangladesh grain fumigant and gas-proof sheeting, which World Food Programme officials report to be urgently needed. I have also offered to the Government of Bangladesh two teams of experts to make recommendations on the rehabilitation of existing warehouses there and the means of bulk transportation of grain away from congested ports. These offers, if accepted, should help to safeguard existing and future grain stocks and so should contribute to greater price stability in the future.
