HC Deb 04 February 1976 vol 904 c624W
Mr. Reid

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will hold urgent discussions with the SFA, the Scottish Second Division clubs, and the Scottish police on the rowdyism which marred several football games on Saturday 24th January; and whether he will make an interim statement.

Mr. William Ross

No. I am not persuaded that discussions of the kind suggested are likely to make a useful contribution to the problem at this stage. The problem is really a series of local problems to be tackled primarily by the clubs and the police, and I know that in most cases there is close co-operation between them.
