HC Deb 04 February 1976 vol 904 c619W
Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she will make a statement on her proposals for reviewing consumer safety legislation; and what steps she will take to ensure that all those interested have an adequate opportunity to express their views.

Mr. Alan Williams

A consultative document on consumer safety which discusses possible ways of strengthening and improving the present law and administrative arrangements will be published as a Green Paper on 17th February. I hope the document will encourage wide-ranging public discussion and that those interested will submit their views to my Department. Arrangments are being made in co-operation with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents for the second day of their annual conference on 3rd and 4th March to be devoted to group and general discussions on issues raised in the Green Paper. I have accepted an invitation to attend the conference and to chair the final discussion session.
