§ Mr. William RodgersCloser integration of the reserves with the Regular Army was a feature of the Defence Review and it was announced in the White Paper that there would be a small proportionate increase in the number of Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve units earmarked for reinforcement of BAOR.
Direct comparison with our European allies is not practicable since they rely on conscription. The TAVR is recruited wholly on a voluntary basis and a nationwide recruiting campaign starts on 23rd February.
