§ Mr. Moonmanasked the Secretary of State for Trade whether, in the light of the fact that leading industrialised nations. including the USA, have circumvented GATT, by for example, the USA tax benefits for domestic export companies, the United Kingdom has listed and started to implement reciprocal circumventions to the benefit of the United Kingdom economy.
§ Mr. MeacherWe hope the United States authorities will take early action to discontinue their DISC scheme, following its condemnation by a GATT panel last month. In the light of the United States response, we will consider with our Community partners what action to take.
