§ Mr. Wallasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what effect the extension of foreign fisheries limits to 200 miles is expected to have on the price of fish in the shops.
§ Mr. MaclennanThe price of fish in the shops depends on many factors, the most important of which is the level of supplies. In the context of the wider adoption of 200 mile limits, this will depend on the outcome of negotiations within the Community and between the Community and third countries; on access to fishing grounds and conservation measures. The availability of imports will also be an important factor affecting supplies and therefore prices.
