§ Mr. Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Employment if, as a matter of priority he will establish an industrial retraining unit in or adjacent to the mining village of Dailly following the NCB decision to close the last remaining colliery.
§ Mr. GoldingI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the Training Services Agency is aware of the likelihood of the Dalquarharron colliery in Dailly closing in the near future. The Agency is satisfied that any training needs which may arise as a result of the closure can be adequately met by the skilicentre at Irvine, the technical colleges at Kilmarnock and Ayr, and the facilities available at employers' establishments in Ayrshire. It has no plans, therefore, to establish a training centre at Dailly.
§ Mr. Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many men over the age of 35 years are unemployed in the Girvan employment exchange area.
