HC Deb 09 December 1976 vol 922 cc334-5W
Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what are the difficulties as to an adequate supply of high quality seed potatoes for next year's crop; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Bishop

Supplies of Scottish and Northern Irish certified seed for potato production in England and Wales are expected to be the same as last year. These supplies are, as usual, supplemented by once-grown and uncertified seed, and total seed supplies should be sufficient to enable potato growers to plant next years target acreage.
