§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make 1113W it his policy to adopt the proposals outlined in the recent TUC document on the arts.
§ Mr. MulleyThe report is an imaginative and constructive document which gives additional proof, if any were needed, that the arts are not the preserve nor the interest of a small section of the nation. As the report is a consultative document and has still to be considered by the General Council of the TUC, it would not be appropriate for my noble Friend to express a view on the detail of the recommendations nor to comment on the resources which can be made available at the present time for the arts. He shares, however, the view of the General Council on the value of the report and that it should be widely considered and discussed.
