Mr. Michael McGuire

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many teachers in the regions in England, except the North-West, are receiving the special payment under the social priority schools allowance scheme, giving in each case, the name of the local education authority, the number of teachers involved, and the rate and period of payment.

Mr. Gerry Fowler

The numbers of teachers receiving the social priority allowance by local education authority, other than in the North West, are listed below. Such teachers receive an extra £201 per annum rising to £276 per annum after three years.
