§ Mr. Barry JonesDistrict councils were given advance notice of a letter issued by the Welsh Office on the same date requesting them not to let new housebuilding and associated contracts while the Welsh Office worked out how the controls on new housebuilding announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 22nd July as part of the cuts in public expenditure should be applied in Wales.
