Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many civil servants of the administrative grades are employed in his Department; and what is the percentage educated in (a) comprehensive schools, (b) grammar schools, (c) direct grant schools and (d) public schools.

At 30th July 1976, 6,142 civil servants in the grades from clerical assistant to Assistant Secretary were serving in the Home Office. Information on the various types of school at which staff were educated is not available.
