§ Mr. Jim Spicerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give a rough estimate of the amount likely to be paid out to United Kingdom students registered for temporary employment during the summer vacation in social security benefits.
§ Mr. DeakinsThe amount paid out will depend on the number who register and the jobs available, and any estimate could be misleading. In the 1975 summer vacation the cost of unemployment and supplementary benefits paid to students registered for temporary employment was about £8½ million.
