HC Deb 04 August 1976 vol 916 cc810-1W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will ensure that industrial employees of the Army Quality Assurance Directorate are given correct explanations of policy reasons for the loss of jobs in the directorate; and if he will reprimand the civil servants responsible for attributing this to the activities of certain named Members of Parliament.

Mr. Duffy

The reduction of staff is being explained and discussed through Whitley and Joint Industrial Councils. I will inquire into the second part of the Question if my hon. Friend wishes to send me details.

Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many industrial employees are on the staff of the South Midland Region of the Army Quality Assurance Directorate; what was the total on 1st January 1976; and what is his estimate of the number for 31st December 1976.

Mr. Duffy

The present number is 206. At the beginning of this year it was 212, and no significant change is forecast for the end of the year.
