§ 39. Mr. Madelasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, following representations made to him by the hon. Member for Bedfordshire, South, he will have discussions with Bedfordshire County Council concerning stage 1 of the southern relief road in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.
§ Dr. GilbertIt is for Bedfordshire County Council, as the highway authority, to take decisions about this principal road scheme. The Department would respond to any request for advice from the county council, but it would not be appropriate for my right hon. Friend to initiate discussions.
