asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will review the fines for taking eggs and young birds illegally, with a view to increasing them to levels that are more realistic in terms of present monetary values.

Dr. Summerskill

The Protection of Birds (Amendment) Act 1976, which received Royal Assent on 29th July, increased these fines fourfold.
