asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many school leavers in Northern Ireland have registered for employment.

At 8th July 1976, 9,082 school leavers—4,720 boys and 4,362 girls—were registered with the Department of Manpower Services for employment in Northern Ireland.

Careers officers of the Department of Manpower Services provide a placement service for young people. Between 1st June 1976 and 23rd July 1976 a total of 2,737 young persons under 18 were referred to employers by the careers officers and of this number 529 were placed in employment.
