asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many redundancies were notified to his Department in the textile industry in 1974, 1975 and 1976 to the latest date available.

Mr. Golding,

pursuant to the reply given by Mr. John Fraser—[Official Report, 8th April 1976; Vol. 909, c. 293], gave the following further information:

During the period 8th March to 31st March 1976 inclusive, my Department was notified of proposed redundancies in the textile industry involving 3,522 employees, of which 712 were notified under the transitional provisions.
