§ Mrs. Dunwoodyasked the Lord President of the Council, in view of the statement by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food that Regulation 563/76 is directly applicable in the United Kingdom by virtue of Article 189 of the Treaty of Rome and Section 2(1) of the European Communities Act 1972 and requires no further United Kingdom legislation to implement it, and of the fact that the regulation was rejected by the House of Commons, what is the policy of Her Majesty's Government in relation to it.
§ Mr. Edward ShortIn my statement in the House on 13th April I made it clear that the Government would take the138W resolution of the House into account in any future negotiations in Brussels but that Regulation 563/76 continues to have the force of law in this country.
