§ Mr. O'Halloranasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make an statement as to how he is encouraging research into the harvesting of power from natural sources such as sun and wind.
§ Mr. EadieStudies have been made for my Department by the Energy Technology Support Unit (ETSU) into alternative energy resources including solar and wind power. The report on solar energy has been considered by the Advisory Council on Research and Development, which has recommended the setting up of a national research and development programme, and this is now in hand. The appropriate actions regarding wind energy will be determined when the final results of the ETSU wind energy study are available.
