§ 20. Mr. James Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement concerning the latest situation in the Icelandic fisheries dispute with particular reference to the talks with the Norwegian Government in Oslo.
§ Mr. HattersleyYes. We continue to seek a fair and honourable solution to this dispute, and meanwhile to protect our trawlers obtaining their livelihood. There has been no direct means of contact with the Icelanders since they broke off diplomatic relations on 19th February, but, during my visit to Oslo last week, this dispute was naturally among the topics I discussed with the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Mr. Frydenlund.
