Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish in the Official Report the number of (a) boys and (b) girls under 21 years of age entering the textile industry in each year since 1966 for each of the following minimum list headings, 412, 413, 423, 414, showing the figures for the North-West and Yorkshire and Humberside, separately.

I regret that the precise information is not available, but the following statistics show the number of young people under age 18 whose first employment following completion of full-time education was in those industries in each of the years 1966 to 1974, the latest date for which statistics are available. Because the statistics relate to first employment only they do not measure the total intake of young people since
