HC Deb 14 April 1976 vol 909 cc567-8W
Mr. Jessel

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many prefabricated houses are now occupied in Greater London in the ownership of each local authority; in which years they were erected; for how long they were intended to last; and how many still remain suitable for living in.

Mr. Freeson

Local authorities in London own the following numbers of such dwellings in use in December 1975:

Greater London Council 457
London Boroughs
Barnet 7
Bexley 12
Camden 87
Greenwich 20
Hammersmith 76
Haringey 52
Kensington and Chelsea 46
Lambeth 223
Lewisham 17
Newham 467
Richmond 1
Southwark 259
Tower Hamlets 2
Waltham Forest 21
Wandsworth 48

These dwellings were erected between 1944 and 1947 with an expected life of at least 10 years; I have no information about their state of fitness.
