HC Deb 14 April 1976 vol 909 c542W
Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many promotional officers are employed by the Department of Commerce; what are their duties; and from what offices they operate.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

Five staff from the Department of Commerce are employed overseas as industrial promotion officers—two at New York, two at Brussels and one at Stuttgart.

In addition, seven consultants are employed—one operating full time from Montreaux, Switzerland, the others part-time from Tokyo, Japan; Los Angeles and Chicago, USA; Malmo, Sweden; Copenhagen, Denmark; and Dusseldorf, West Germany.

These officers seek to bring to the attention of potential investors the opportunities and advantages of manufacturing in Northern Ireland.
