HC Deb 12 April 1976 vol 909 cc390-1W
Mr. Macfarlane

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what are the arrangements for notifying British embassies of the participation of British teams in sporting events in those countries.

Mr. Hattersley

Sporting organisations were reminded in 1975 by the Sports Council and the Central Council for Physical Recreation of the desirability of letting the Foreign and Commonwealth Office know of visits overseas by teams of their members. This information is passed on to the appropriate diplomatic or consular post. I am sure that the Sports Council and the Central Council for Physical Recreation are aware of the advantages of this procedure.
