HC Deb 12 April 1976 vol 909 c419W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many posts for community physicians in England are still not filled; how the situation would be affected by a standstill of such appointments for a period of 12 months; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Owen

114 of the 696 established community physician posts have not yet been filled. As regards a standstill, it has been proposed that the full year cost of managerial staff in post in all disciplines in the National Health Service at 31st March 1976 shall not be exceeded in the financial year 1976–77, but the exact composition of the groups of staff that might be included and the way in which this would be applied to particular groups of staff is not yet decided.
