Mr. Alan WilliamsThe provisions of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, which apply generally to credit transactions involving mail order, will become fully operative over the next 18 months. I shall also publish tomorrow the report of the Consumer Protection Advisory Committee on the proposals by the Direc-396W tor General of Fair Trading to control prepayment in mail order transactions and shops, and will shortly be laying before Parliament a draft order reflecting the action I propose to take on the report.
