HC Deb 08 April 1976 vol 909 cc242-3W

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will consider introducing in the Metropolitan Police, and recommending to all other police authorities, a confidential telephone system for calls with information regarding terrorist activities.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

No. I do not believe that in Great Britain such a system would be an improvement on the normal methods by which information can be given to the police.

Miss Richardson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has refused an extension for an additional period of detention to the police under the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1974.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

No.
